About Alexis
Kimberly Alexis Bledel was born on Sep. 16, 1981 in Houston, Texas- to Nanette Bledel and Martin Bledel. Since her mother was from Mexico and her father from Argentina, Alexis's first language was Spanish. As a child, Alexis was very shy- When she was 8 her parents suggested she try out for parts in some local theatre productions, like: Aladdin, The Wizard of Oz, and Our Town. Shorty after starting an all girls Catholic school, Alexis was discovered at a local mall. The modeling agent Page Parkes, saw Alexis and her mom while they were shopping, and decided that she could become a model. During her middle/high school years, Alexis's traveled from Japan, to L.A.- and everywhere in between. After high school, she applied to NYU as a film major-and still continued modeling. During this time, she met her manager (Michael Flutie of Flutie Entertainment) and soon thereafter, she graduated from Page Parkes Center of Modeling and Acting. But Alexis decided she had had enough of modeling, and decided to change her path. Alexis auditioned for the role of Rory Gilmore in Gilmore Girls and landed the job on the spot. Gilmore Girls was picked up by The WB, which forced Alexis to leave NYU for Los Angelas. After Gilmore Girls aired in 2000, Disney decided to bring the novel Tuck Everlasting into a movie. Alexis played one of the major roles (Winnie) in 2002. Currently Alexis is still working on Gilmore Girls, and two new movies: The Orphan King and Dys Enchanted.
